Description


The Library Assistant (part-time) is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the library. The candidate must be highly organized with excellent interpersonal skills. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

Examples of Duties

• Sorting and shelving books according to their categorization.
• Assisting customers with checking out and in materials and equipment.
• Assisting students and patrons with internet access and ensuring technical needs are met.
• Managing daily notices and monthly reports.
• Assisting library events.
• Managing inquiries over the counter, via email, or telephone.
• Attend to any disruptions or disturbances in the library which requires confidence and excellent communicative skills.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma
• Experience in customer service role
• Basic computer literacy
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Attention to details and good problem solving ability
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Supplemental Information


This position is part-time working 20 - 28 hours per week.
The library/Rocket Success Center is well-lit with artificial lighting. Southern Arkansas University Tech
