ADEC is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the agency's financial operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. To accomplish this, the Senior Accountant must work closely with the IT Services Manager within the Financial Services Department and ADEC’s Program Service Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Be responsible for oversight of all accounting systems including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash receipts/disbursements, and payroll. Lead monthly closing process.
General Ledger Management: Ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and compliant with accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
Audits and Tax Compliance: Conducting internal audits, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
Support final review of all billing claims, vouchers, cash disbursements and grants.
Provide ongoing analysis and improvement of accounting procedures agency-wide. Ensure internal control procedures are up to date and functioning properly. Oversee compliance with Agency financial policies and procedures.
Complete all tax-related requirements as they affect the agency, including property taxes and state sales tax payments.
Prepare schedules for grant vehicle expense recognition.
Prepare online training presentations for Financial procedures.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Active CPA certificate preferred.
Minimum of three years professional accounting experience . Preference given for experience in a human service organization similar to ADEC.
Computer systems experience including general ledger systems, Microsoft products and various applications.
Self motivation, initiative, trustworthiness and independent judgment. Ability to apply accounting principles to a unique environment.
Ability to effectively work with and relate to many professional and non-professional staff, as well as state agencies and auditors.
