Position Summary:

As a Level 3 Interior Architect at HED, you support the successful integration of architecture and interior design with growing autonomy and design leadership. In this role, you bring a rigorous technical understanding of building systems together with creative problem-solving to shape holistic, high-performing environments. You contribute across project phases and collaborate deeply with architectural and engineering teams to ensure design integrity from concept through execution. You are a resourceful and inquisitive designer committed to HED’s values of integration, innovation, and design excellence.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead interior architectural components of projects through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Integrate architectural elements, detailing, and space planning with building systems and codes.
  • Translate design concepts into fully coordinated interior architectural solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams including architects, engineers, interior designers, and consultants.
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation using Revit, including construction details, finish plans, and millwork drawings.
  • Conduct product research and participate in material selection with attention to sustainability, durability, and aesthetics.
  • Attend and contribute to client and team meetings, including design reviews and coordination sessions.
  • Support junior team members and contribute to a culture of mentorship and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in QA/QC and peer review processes to support consistent design quality.
  • Maintain awareness of trends in workplace, learning, healthcare, and living environments as relevant to interior architecture.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or related field from a NAAB- or CIDA-accredited program.
  • Minimum 4–7 years of professional experience in architecture or interior architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Enscape, Rhino, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes, ADA, and interior detailing standards.
  • Ability to interpret design concepts into technical solutions.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Architectural Licensure or NCIDQ certification required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in person.
  • Must be able to perform site visits.
  • Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
Work Environment:
  • We embrace a hybrid model that promotes both autonomy and collaboration, including the freedom to work from home, with regular in-office days to connect with teammates and build culture.
  • The office is a professional, open-space environment for collaborative and independent work.
