Position Title: Communication Officer, Grad School University Job Title: Director of Communications Responsibilities: Collaborate with senior leadership in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, including the Dean, to proactively and independently draft complex and sensitive correspondence to stakeholders including faculty, staff, and donors, announcements, presentations, and speeches. Research materials for draft communications and prepare reports for the Dean and other senior leaders. Prepare development-related communications and correspondence. Manage communication plans for all stakeholders by understanding the significance of campus initiatives and academic work. Maintain information and records for the GSAS Committees, draft letters and emails, and prepare materials for discussion. Collaborate and interact with the Office of Public Affairs and Communications (OPAC) and other university offices and colleagues to monitor and publicize Graduate School and university events, ensuring consistency of communications. Monitor, revise, and develop the website and social media accounts for the Graduate School, including creating new pages, sites, and videography, and ensuring that the data are current and relevant. Serve as the Graduate School's representative on university committees. Coordinate and lead annual Graduate School events including commencement and matriculation ceremony. May perform other writing and communications duties as assigned. Required Skills: Demonstrated superior experience drafting high-level confidential and sensitive communications, documents, or other materials for senior leaders and administrators in an academic environment. Proven ability to conduct research on topics related to communications and materials. Demonstrated ability to juggle daily deadlines with long-term projects. Demonstrated and proven excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated desire to work collaboratively with peers and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability in exercising independent judgment and decision-making based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining informative websites and other digital content including social media and engagement tracking. Preferred Education: Ph.D. degree. Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of relevant experience working in Higher Education or an equivalent combination of demonstrated experience and education.
