Position Description
Accountant/CPA
Responsibility:
This individual will be responsible for financial reporting, assist with budgeting, assist with audit and other tasks assigned by management. Will also perform daily accounting tasks.
Full Time Hourly position 8 am – 4:30 pm
Working in office 2 days per week, remote the remainder of the week
Expected travel: Infrequent
Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to the CEO through the Associate Director of Accounting
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness
· Process all Journal Entries monthly/as needed including payroll, depreciation, reclass, and others as requested by management.
· Review and analyze monthly Profit & Loss by class identifying variances, accrue for missing bills correcting discrepancies.
· Prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with non-profit accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and provide financial reports, monthly, quarterly as requested by the management or the board of directors.
· Monitor cash flow and provide recommendations to ensure the financial stability of the organization.
· Develop and analyze annual budgets and forecasts, based on historical data (3 yeas), providing financial guidance to leadership.
· Prepare information for the annual audit, annual financial report and 990 filing process, including deferred revenue adjustments and supporting audit requests.
· Maintain current level of accuracy while transitioning to new database management system, ensuring data integrity during the migration process.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· Have knowledge of accounting best practices and procedures
· Ability to work independently and on a team, prioritize work to meet deadlines.
· Detail oriented with excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
· Must be proficient with Acrobat Adobe Pro and Microsoft Word, Excel (V Lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.), Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.
· Must be proficient with QuickBooks Online
· Able to design and work with complicated spreadsheet applications with large quantity of data with accuracy.
· In-depth knowledge of non-profit accounting standards (e.g., GAAP for non-profits, IRS regulation for 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3)
· Desired: Experience with Concur and Bill.Com
· A professional work ethic with respectful, discrete, and positive attitude is an absolute must
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience and Education:
· 3-5 years in similar accounting role, with at least 2 years working with non-profit organizations, or experience with non-profit tax laws and compliance.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· C ertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
