Avantis Resources is recruiting for a seasoned
VP, Residential Mortgage Operations Manager to lead the residential mortgage department for one of our premier clients in the financial sector. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on strategic oversight of underwriting, funding, processing, and closing operations, while ensuring regulatory compliance and an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage all lending functions including underwriting, processing, closing, and funding of residential mortgage loans.
- Oversee and monitor loan pipeline to ensure internal compliance and high customer satisfaction.
- Conduct weekly pipeline meetings to review all loans scheduled to close within 60 days.
- Assist with underwriting for complex residential loan scenarios, ensuring thorough risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
- Review property appraisals for guideline and secondary market eligibility.
- Collaborate with processing and underwriting teams to resolve conditions and ensure timely loan closings.
- Develop and update operational workflows, procedures, and policies to enhance efficiency and address challenges proactively.
- Support residential lending officers to ensure timely loan application submissions.
- Stay up to date on government and conventional loan programs, housing assistance, and state-specific requirements.
- Monitor and analyze competitor mortgage rates and terms to stay ahead of market trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors.
- Ensure compliance with credit policy and all state and federal lending regulations.
- Maintain and update Encompass Loan Origination System with complete and accurate financial data and HMDA information.
- Contribute to maintaining a current and compliant Residential Procedures Manual.
- Participate in annual training programs and additional duties as needed.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in residential and consumer lending with 5+ years of team leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Encompass Loan Origination System.
- Deep knowledge of mortgage lending, including secondary market, construction-to-perm, HELOCs, and bridge loans.
- Familiarity with credit policies, state and federal compliance regulations.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage across all levels of an organization.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven customer service and cross-selling skills with a solutions-focused approach.
