Medical Solutions is seeking a LPN / LVN Med Surg for a travel job in Bloomington, Indiana.

Travel Medsurg RN is needed to start ASAP in a Hospital in Indiana for a 16 week assignment. Shifts consist of 7pm-7am and every 3rd weekend. (Sometimes self-scheduling may be available but most often with travelers they will not have this since they are filling needs of unit). Holidays are worked into a holiday rotation with the perm staff, they are flexible with this. There are 2 Medsurg units 2 South and 3 North. Travelers will be expected to float between both units. Ratios and patients are the same on both. Number of beds - up to 28 beds possible, average census is 17-18. Certifications required - BLS. N:P Ratios -1 to 5 for days and nights. EMR is Cerner. Charge Nurse. Yes, typically does not take a patient assignment but if they have to they will take a light assignment if needed. Nurse Aides: Yes - they are called patient care associates, they are not certified, IU teaches their own nurse aides, 1 to 8 ratio, usually on days 2-3 aides available and night shift about 2 available, also have a house orderly every day and night. Scrub Color - Black scrub pants, red scrub top, must wear all black shoes as well. Telemetry - GE brand, central monitoring station with tech, not required to read own strips. Vents - Yes but only bipap and cpap. Hospitalist or Intensivist in house - Yes - hospitalist, also NP's that work alongside them. IV Team - Yes kind of, vascular team for PICC line, they have vein viewers available for staff to use, they also have a transport team to transport pts to procedures and other various things. RT 24/7 - Yes. Pharmacy 24/7 - Yes -on unit until 3pm, they also have a tube system. Floor specific orientation 2 shifts on unit with preceptor. Common diagnosis / Types of patients 18 year old’s to elderly, pneumonia, CHF, diabetics, vascular surgeries, GI bleeds, influenza. Always have a patient care director (house sup) on 24/7 if needed as well as a wound care team if needed, 70% of perm staff are nurses who have 2 years of experience or less, must be willing to help teach and educate other staff, must also have IV skills, good attitude, team player, communication skills, adaptability, and must be focused on patient satisfaction, must also ask questions if they don't know something.
