Description SUMMARY We are hiring a Full Time Travel Agent to assist the travel manager by making and confirming reservations, monitory flights and other travel arrangements. The ideal candidate will have some travel experience under his or her belt and be familiar with both domestic and foreign destinations. The travel agent supports America Councils work by implementing international exchange programs for thousands of participants worldwide. Qualified applicants must have Sabre Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and be familiar with Trams Back office accounting. The travel agent will be working on site at American Councils for International Education in Washington, DC.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Create and submit ARC reports
- Transfer tickets to ARC weekly
- Use Sabre reservation software to handle requests received by telephone or e-mail by selecting convenient and cost-effective availability of airline flights and informs and discusses options with traveler.
- Provide concierge services including hotels, ground transportation, etc.
- Check reservations for accuracy; maintain records and provide information as requested.
- Handle special situations such as canceling/voiding airline tickets and arrange for refund of unused tickets.
- Download weekly tickets to ARC report
- Print weekly ARC reports
Qualifications - Must have minimum five years Sabre Global Distribution Systems (GDS)
- Knowledge of TRAMS and ARC is a must, completing and sending weekly reports to ARC
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Positive, tenacious attitude and a willingness to constantly learn
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining complex records and itineraries
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal as well as customer service.
- Ability to work within a small team
