How will you make an impact? As a member of our infrastructure engineering team, you will focus on key pillars: Virtualization, Cloud, and Servers. Your efficient contributions will drive business success and empower our company to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. What will you do? Virtualization Management: Design, implement, and lead virtualized environments using VMware, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. Linux System Administration: Administer and maintain Linux servers, including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and performance. Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts using tools such as Ansible, Python, and Terraform to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention. Infrastructure tooling: Implement and manage monitoring/configuration solutions to ensure the health and performance of virtual and Linux environments, using tools like NinjaOne and other monitoring platforms. Cloud Integration: Support hybrid cloud environments by integrating on-premise systems with cloud platforms such as AWS, and Azure. Security and Compliance: Ensure systems are aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI, CIS). Implement security standard methodologies and perform regular security audits. Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for environments, ensuring regular testing and updates. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and processes to ensure operational consistency. Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, including architecture, operations, security, and application teams, to support business needs and drive technology initiatives. Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior staff, encouraging a culture of continuous learning and development. Problem Resolution: Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues to ensure system stability and minimize downtime. Standardization: Drive the standardization of processes and procedures across the environments to ensure consistency and standard processes. Vendor Management: Liaise with vendors for support, procurement, and maintenance of virtualization and Linux infrastructure components. How will you get here? Education 4-year degree with a major in Computer Science/ Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university, or relevant work experience. Experience 5+ years’ experience in VMware Platform Administration 5+ years’ experience with Linux Administration 3+ years’ experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure management 3+ years’ experience in L3 Infrastructure Operational Support Knowledge, Skills, Abilities VMware 7 and 8 Administration VMware SRM HPE Greenlake, Dell VxRail, Cisco UCS (Some or All) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Ansible Terraform Python Bash Experience in working with geographically distributed teams A demeanor of continuous improvement Ability to work in a team structure, make decisions, tackle problems, analyze, plan, coordinate and prioritize work Excellent oral and written communication skills to present technical information to both business and technology teams with clarity and precision At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 100,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell.
