As a Software Engineering Manager within PNC’s C&IB organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH or Dallas, TX. or Birmingham, AL. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

Role Overview:
The Software Engineering Manager will play a leadership role in envision the future of Commercial Leasing engagements at PNC, including partnering with business units to develop world class automate loan origination and servicing platform, drive digital experience roadmaps that identifies where we will focus, how we will get there, and the sequence of activities required to meet our business goals. This role is responsible for managing multiple software development projects and leading a team of onsite and offshore people with a focus on career development. This role demands a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering projects with high quality, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities:
•\tLead and manage a diverse team of 20+ software engineers, both on-site and off-site, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
•\tWork closely with stakeholders from business, product, and enterprise engineering teams to align software development with strategic objectives.
•\tChampion the Agile process throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and execution to delivery and feedback.
•\tDrive the timely delivery of projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
•\tFoster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to innovate and optimize processes for efficiency.
•\tManage relationships with external vendors, ensuring they deliver added capabilities to the organization as required.
•\tOversee the career development and growth of team members, providing mentorship, and ensuring a high level of team engagement and morale.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
•\tBachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
•\tProven experience (8+ years) in software development and team leadership, with a solid track record of managing large-scale software projects.
•\tStrong understanding and practical experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
•\tExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
•\tDemonstrated ability to manage external vendors and partnerships.
•\tStrategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
•\tLeadership qualities that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.
•\tTechnical expertise in the following areas are highly preferred: web application development with java or .net, microservice architecture, API design and development; event driven architecture; SQL, CICD; monitoring, automate testing.

Job Description
  • Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.
  • Oversees multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.
  • Monitors and maintains adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis.
  • Maximizes staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs.
  • Analyzes applications to ensure that all systems that are developed, meet business needs and specifications.
