Job Description

Description:

At Steven Douglas Corp (SDC) , we specialize in designing and building custom automated machines that serve a wide variety of applications and industries. As a family-owned and growing business, we are committed to delivering innovative solutions by blending proven engineering principles with creative approaches to automation.

A Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Engineer at SDC will design and deploy RPA solutions and agentic models that streamline workflows across engineering, manufacturing, project management, and finance. We are looking for a team player who is ready to take the next step in their AI career – working collaboratively to serve SDC as our internal AI lead utilizing agentic experience.

Why Join SDC?

  • Innovative Concepts: At SDC, your primary focus will be leading internal AI initiatives and automation solutions.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work closely with our sales, project management, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of design and execution.
  • Family-Owned Culture: Experience a supportive and agile environment that values technical excellence and personal growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as SDC’s internal lead for AI initiatives, coordinating with larger AI company on roadmap, priorities, and standards.
  • Design and deploy robotic process automation (RPA) solutions that streamline workflows across departments.
  • Build Power BI dashboards and data pipelines that pull from Total ETO (ERP), SAGE (accounting), Smartsheet (project management), and SOLIDWORKS (design) via REST APIs and SQL.
  • Design and deploy agentic models (AI agents/tools) (e.g., OpenAI API, Copilot, retrieval/function-calling pipelines) to automate various stages of the machine design process
  • Create smaller internal automations (Python scripts, SQL, ETL jobs, alerts) to eliminate manual steps across all departments.
  • Support engineering teams with light controls/robotics interfaces and data bridges (PLC/HMI/robot data tags, test harnesses) in collaboration with CE/ME leads.
  • Responsible for version control, documentation, and secure deployment of internal tools; train users and ensure continuity and consistency.
  • Track outcomes with KPIs (hours saved, error reduction, lead-time improvement) to share with management team.
  • Understand and evaluate IT related contracts.
  • Facilitate/perform internal IT related tasks.

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Electrical, Computer, Software, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 3+ years’ agentic tooling experience (OpenAI API, Co-Pilot Studio, or similar) and/or low-code automation (Power Automate, Zapier) a plus.
  • Experience in industrial automation/controls or software engineering in a factory automation context.
  • Hands-on with data integration (REST APIs, SQL), scripting (Python preferred), and dashboarding (Power BI or similar).
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems (Total ETO, SAGE, Smartsheet, SOLIDWORKS)
  • Understanding of PLC/HMI/robotics concepts to collaborate with CE/ME teams; prior controls background strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills; bias for action and efficiency.
  • Someone who can translate business needs into actionable solution designs and project plans
  • Ability and willingness to support occasional on-site needs and short travel (up to 10%).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • 100% employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance with supplemental insurance options.
  • 3 weeks’ vacation, accrued sick leave, and 10 company-paid holidays.
  • 401(k) plan with a 4% employer match per pay period.
  • Company-sponsored Health Savings Account (HSA) and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • A supportive, family-owned culture focused on integrity, respect, learning, and innovation.

Steven Douglas Corp is an equal-opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and innovative workplace.
