Refrigeration Mechanic III - 3rd Shift at Schwan's summary:

The Refrigeration Mechanic III role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing complex refrigeration systems in a food manufacturing facility during the third shift. The position requires advanced mechanical and electrical skills, safety compliance including HAZMAT training, and inventory management. Candidates should have at least 3 years of refrigeration experience, with preferred certifications in HAZMAT, forklift, and boiler operation.

Pay Range : $34-$37.50 per hour

Additional $1.50 shift differential from 6pm-6am

Shift: 3rd Shift

Hours: 10:30pm-7am

This is a full-time position within our XX food manufacturing facility with opportunities for advancement!

Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily inspections and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems including air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, boilers, and REM evaporative coils to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance.

• Troubleshoot and repair complex refrigeration equipment issues such as ammonia compressors, CO2 and freezer temperature monitors, and electrical components including I/O modules, ensuring minimal downtime.

• Manage refrigeration parts inventory, order necessary components, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.

• Lead setup, teardown, fabrication, and installation of plant equipment, supporting major repairs and construction projects related to stationary machinery and building infrastructure.

• Adhere to strict safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, and Fall Protection, and actively participate in Hazmat training and emergency response teams.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required ; two-year degree in a specialized maintenance trade preferred.

• 3+ years of related refrigeration maintenance experience with advanced electrical and mechanical skills , strongly preferred in an ammonia refrigeration environment.

• Ability to safely don and operate air-purifying respirators (APR) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); HAZMAT certification preferred.

• Must be able to obtain forklift and boiler licenses as required for job functions.

• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be committed to following all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures .
