OpTech has an excellent opportunity with a Tier 1 client for a Michigan-based Real Estate Attorney !

Location: Troy / Rochester / Royal Oak area

Hybrid: 4 days on site / 1 day remote

Salary: Negotiable

OVERVIEW:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in real estate law, including transactions, contract negotiations, property disputes, zoning, and land use regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases and transactions efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate contracts, lease agreements, and purchase agreements.
  • Conduct title searches and review title insurance policies to ensure property ownership and resolve title defects.
  • Advise clients on real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, and financing.
  • Handle land use, zoning, and environmental compliance matters.
  • Represent clients in real estate litigation, including disputes over property rights, foreclosures, and landlord-tenant issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with real estate developers, brokers, investors, lenders, and government agencies.
  • Prepare legal documents such as deeds, closing statements, and mortgage agreements.
  • Provide guidance on risk management and dispute resolution strategies.
  • Stay up to date with changes in real estate law and industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Michigan.
  • The ideal candidate will have 6+ years experience in the following:
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial and residential real estate transaction documents, including purchase agreements, lease agreements (office, retail, industrial) and conveyance documents
  • Reviewing and resolving title and survey issues
  • All aspects of due diligence
  • Conduct closings
  • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses
  • Strong knowledge of real estate transactions, contracts, and litigation.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience working with corporate real estate, commercial leasing, or real estate finance is a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with commercial real estate transactions.
  • Familiarity with real estate investment and development projects.
  • Knowledge of real estate tax law and regulatory compliance.
  • Prior experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or real estate company.
