Prison Education Specialist Lewis-Clark State College
LC State invites applications for the position of Prison Education Specialist.
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $50,000 - $55,000
Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
Required Qualifications: - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience working with databases, organizing data, and running technical reports
- Experience preparing professional documents and making public presentations
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Must have a valid Idaho driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in education, social work, or related field from a regionally accredited college/university
- Work experience in higher education, specifically in financial aid
- Familiarity with Prison Education Program guidelines and laws
- Experience using Ellucian's Colleague
- Flexibility to work in an open office environment and actively collaborate with other staff members
Responsibilities:
This position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or the surrounding area and will be expected to travel routinely to the state prisons in the Boise area and in Pocatello, Idaho. Occasional travel to Lewiston, Idaho, will also be required. This is a hybrid role with responsibilities split between a correctional facility and a remote home-based setting. The position is not tied to a traditional office location.
1. Support the Prison Education Program (PEP) by assisting students with the federal financial aid process, the college's admission process, fee payment, and other aspects of enrollment at LC State.
2. Develop and present informational materials for PEP participants.
3. Assist students and families with general guidance on financial aid and scholarship processes, including completion of the FAFSA, scholarship, and other financial forms or documents.
4. Partner with other institutional faculty and staff on projects, assignments, and presentations.
5. Represent Student Financial Services as needed for college fairs, community college visits, or other recruitment events.
8. Serve on campus committees as needed.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
