Position Title: Principal User Experience Designer A Day in the Life Mozarc Medical’s User Experience group supports all projects across the company and aligns the areas of our projects that face the customer (design, labeling, packaging) in a single group. This design position will leverage cross-over design experience to strengthen the team’s abilities to flex with program needs and bring a holistic vision of usable software and hardware interactions. The designer role drives customer-focus by increasing the value of research insights by translating them into actionable design outputs that drive successful design solutions. While prioritizing safe and effective use, this individual contributor will work closely with global project development teams on kidney technology products to bring our life changing technologies to market. Responsibilities Lead industrial design for new product development in collaboration with the project development teams. Support all user interface design for new and/or existing products as needed in partnership with other members of the user experience team and project development teams, including software graphical user interfaces, hardware design, product labeling, and user manual graphics. Utilize low to high fidelity prototyping methods to support user research and iterative design both for software and hardware. Support the human factors design process in early-stage user research through validation. Support documentation, synthesize results, and iterate design based on feedback to ensure optimal product design. Distill user research including usability study findings into themes and user interface design solutions. Support creation of design standards, patterns, and best practices for the team and projects. Work in Figma, Illustrator, InDesign, and CAD based drawing systems such as Creo. Utilize development tools such as Jama, JIRA, Windchill as needed. Bring understanding of the customer and therapy space to all work. Make strategic tradeoffs regarding time, cost, risk, and value of design decisions. Think creatively and work across functions to meet deadlines and deliver products that meet customer needs. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture. Must Have Bachelor’s degree + 10+ years of experience in industrial design, human computer interaction, graphic design, fine art, or related fields. Nice to Have Experience working in medical device development and FDA-regulated environments. Strong visual design and industrial design skills. Experience working in a cross functional team to move features from design through testing and development. Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and skilled at bridging cultural differences to get work done. Experience conducting user testing / user research and translating findings into iterative design improvements. Experience successfully working in a small company or start-up environment. Have a clear understanding of all aspects of User Experience, User Interface Design, and Industrial Design. Desire to make a big impact on how people experience healthcare through elegantly designed interactions. Strong creative problem solving and pattern recognition skills. Curious, empathetic, creative and a continual learner. Is self-motivated and proactive, always thinking ahead for the team. Able to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, keep organized, and multitask. Communicate clearly in written, verbal and visual forms, being equally facile with technical and non-technical team members.
