Summary The Children?s Preschool seeks a Director who will love this preschool and nourish it in all
aspects, supporting its mission and philosophy while building a vision to further the school?s
development in the years to come. The right candidate will bring warmth, joy and creative
energy as well as exceptional leadership and administrative strength.
We are seeking a Director to begin July 1, 2025. With full enrollment, teachers who have
devoted their careers to the school, and a beloved family community, this is a special place to
shepard into the next stage of its development.
Founded in 1971, the Children?s Preschool is a cooperative play-based preschool program
for children ages three through five. Approximately twenty-six children attend five
mornings or full-days. We foster a dynamic and welcoming learning environment in our
little urban oasis that celebrates the joys of childhood, collaboration, inquiry, kindness,
and creativity. In our mixed-age classroom, children develop empathy, learn to think
critically, and master skills by engaging with each other and with their skilled and
dedicated teachers.
The Children?s Preschool cares deeply about inclusion and equity. We strive to serve as a
support for the whole family, working in partnership with parents to meet the social,
emotional, physical and intellectual needs of each child. We value the contributions of all

Duties Responsibilities Include ? Developing and implementing a preschool program that aligns with the mission and
educational philosophy of Children?s Preschool, and meets the requirements of a
NAEYC accredited program
? Overseeing all staffing decisions, training, and personnel policies
? Creating an annual schedule
? Establishing a culture of staff collaboration that is grounded in Preschool?s mission
? Supervising and assessing all employees of the school
? Supporting teachers and parents in helping children thrive
? Keeping adequate and required information and records
? Conducting the admissions and financial aid processes
? Implementing the HR policies, procedures and practices of the organization
? Being accountable to the Preschool Board for the school?s finances, including but not limited
to, setting and adhering to the annual budget
? Planning and running the Preschool Council meetings, and facilitating committee work
that includes fundraising for scholarships
? Ensuring the Cooperative runs smoothly by structuring a variety of ways for parents to
support the school
? Attending and participating in all Preschool Board meetings, and committee meetings as
appropriate
? Acting as the liaison with the First Unitarian Universalist Society (the lessor of the
Preschool carriage house and yard)
Requirements Qualities and Skills Desired ? A love of children and a deep understanding of the complexity of early childhood
development
? A minimum of a bachelor?s degree in early childhood education or equivalent
? At least five years of experience teaching in an early childhood, play-based setting
? Excellent communication skills
? Strong leadership skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships
? Experience managing staff, or at least training in management
? Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
? Familiarity and ease with basic computer programs, such as Constant Contact and
Quickbooks
? Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation standards and licensing regulations
