Overview Pipe Designer role at INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA, LLC. Compensation: Texas City, TX; Typical range $90,700.00 - $136,100.00. This role focuses on designing, maintaining, and improving mechanical assets by creating drawings and material take-offs for construction, operation, and layout of systems. Accountabilities Of The Job Accountability 1: Safety Ensuring compliance with HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) standards and expectations set through the INEOS Life Saving Rules and 20 Safety Principles. Update PSI for the plant which is maintained by the Engineering department such as P&ID’s, electrical schematic drawings, as well as specification sheets. Ensure PSI is updated in response to MOC’s, capital projects, maintenance projects or other improvements affecting PSI of the plant. Assure the safety of employees and contractors through compliance with OSHA standards, ANSI standards, INEOS Acetyls policies and procedures, and other agencies’ safety regulations, standards, and/or guidelines. Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and promptly report any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents to supervision. Accountability 2: Mechanical Design Prepare detailed design drawings for in-house Front End Engineering Designs (FEED) and detailed design drawings for fast-track projects. Revise existing and create new mechanical drawings, layouts, piping isometrics, structural steel, specifications and bills of materials with guidance from an engineer. Assemble and issue design packages for construction purposes. Provide mechanical design assistance throughout all project phases including commissioning and start-up. Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment lists for plant, pipeline and related facilities construction projects. Provide design support for routine requests from maintenance and operations personnel. Collect and deliver design and engineering data to internal and external partners. Track progress for jobs and projects and coordinate with supervision. Review vendor and in-house coordination drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements. Provide support during equipment installation to ensure design specifications are met. Collaborate on projects to ensure designs are practical, cost effective and meet all relevant regulations and standards. Communicate with vendors to review equipment availability, equipment cost, and installation requirements. Prepare parts lists, procurement lists, BOMs and specifications when drawings are complete; revise lists, drawings and BOMs consistent with engineering changes. Assist with field surveys, document existing conditions, and recommend design solutions. Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed. Analyze the effect of proposed changes for fit and interference, and propose solutions or alternate options. Produce drawings and deliverables using company standards within project-approved schedule and budget. Maintain proper file management in accordance with company and industry standards. Support drawing and information generation for excavation permit development. Required Profile Level of Education & Knowledge Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required, OR 15+ years of applicable experience accepted in lieu of degree. 10+ years of experience in the Mechanical design field in a refinery, midstream or petrochemical industry. Experience & Technical Skills Experience in computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Understanding of ANSI/ISO/ASME drafting methods (GD&T), standards and procedures. Ability to use calipers, micrometers, scales, and other basic measuring tools. Understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques and ability to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost. Experience with Microsoft Suite; basic use of Excel, Word and Outlook. Competencies & Behavioral Skills Strong attention to detail and ability to use various design tools and software. Strong problem-solving skills and mathematical understanding. Ability to react promptly and shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical thinking. Ability to elicit cooperation from team members, project managers, and other disciplines. Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, leadership, and presentation skills. Capability to conduct independent research into project-related issues and products.
