Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young mothers and their children? LSF is seeking a dedicated House Parent to join our team and provide compassionate support to teenage mothers and their children in need.

Note: Overnight and weekend hours are required!

Purpose and Impact:

This essential position involves supervising teenage female residents who are pregnant, parenting, or at risk of sex trafficking. As a House Parent, you will ensure a safe and nurturing environment, providing guidance and support to promote positive interactions among the youth in our program.

Essential Functions:

  • Foster a supportive and safe environment for youth.
  • Maintain security and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Guide teens and their babies in daily life skills, including personal care and hygiene.
  • Observe and engage in mother-child play activities.
  • Complete shift reports and perform administrative tasks such as taking attendance and reporting.
  • Assist with household tasks, including medication dispensing, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and cleaning.
  • Organize and take part in recreational activities and outings.
  • Support children's education by assisting with schoolwork as needed.
  • Attend in-service training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Assign and supervise daily chores for residents.

Other Functions:

  • Genuine interest in working with teenage mothers, infants, and young children.
  • Willingness to work overnight, holidays, and weekends for consistent supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work extended hours and adapt to varying schedules.
  • Valid state driver's license and auto insurance required.

Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience:

A minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth in structured settings is preferred. Training in Trauma-Informed Care, de-escalation techniques, or child welfare programs is a bonus.

Skills:

  • Dependability, discretion, and sound judgement are critical.
  • Compassionate and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience engaging with youth in crisis and with younger children.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with clients, coworkers, and the community.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic needs of the service population.
  • Team player mentality working effectively with coworkers and administrators.

Additional Information:

Demonstrated awareness of the diverse backgrounds and needs within the service population is essential.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Report to House Coordinators and the Residential Services Director.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers and community partners.
  • Ensure quality care within a safe and secure environment.
  • Comply with all state and federal licensing and quality assurance standards.
  • Effectively manage behavior and supervise residents during various activities.
  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
