Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer to join our growing IT security team in London. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the security, integrity, and resilience of our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network security solutions, as well as proactively identifying and mitigating security risks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and manage secure network solutions to protect the organisation’s data and systems.
  2. Monitor network traffic and security events to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and potential breaches.
  3. Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and penetration testing.
  4. Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security technologies.
  5. Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain compliance with industry standards.
  6. Respond to security incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging security threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  8. Provide technical guidance and training to colleagues on network security best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

  1. Strong experience in network security engineering, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and secure network architectures.
  2. Proficiency in configuring and managing security technologies such as Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Check Point firewalls.
  3. Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and security principles.
  4. Experience with security monitoring tools such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection solutions.
  5. Hands-on experience in incident response, threat hunting, and forensic analysis.
  6. Familiarity with compliance standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and PCI-DSS.
  7. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  8. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCNP Security, or equivalent.
  3. Experience with cloud security in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  4. Scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
