MEAT CUTTER

Reports to: Store Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

We are looking for a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team and ensure the highest quality meat products for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing meat to store specifications, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. You will work closely with other team members to ensure the meat department is stocked, organized, and ready for customer needs. Customer service is key, as you'll assist customers with their meat selections and provide expert recommendations. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Cut, trim and prepare meat
  • Ensure product quality
  • Package and label meat
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Ensure safety standards
  • Stock and organize meat display
  • Train meat cutter trainees
  • Monitor temperature and storage
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

  • Must be 18 years or older due to age-related work restrictions
  • Basic knowledge of meat cuts, food safety and sanitation standards
  • Prior experience in meat cutting, food handling or retail is a plus
  • Ability to operate meat cutting and packaging equipment safely and efficiently
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and store polices
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is typically performed in a grocery store environment with frequent exposure to refrigerated areas and freezers
  • Exposure to sharp equipment requiring high attention to safety
  • Fast-paced environment especially during peak shopping hours
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including a variety of shifts, days, evenings, nights, and weekends including overtime, as needed

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

  • Ability to use hands and fingers to reach, lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis
