A Day in the Office Looks Like This:

The Landscape Project Manager is skilled in the development of multiple landscape design projects from the schematic design phase through completion of construction administration. The incumbent will possess a diverse knowledge of landscape architectural principles and practices to help advance a variety of different projects in the firm. This is a client-facing position that requires a professional demeanor as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.

  • Manages and coordinates all aspects of various-sized projects from the schematic design phase through construction administration
  • Independently capable of developing and applying advanced landscape architecture concepts, design strategies, and construction related knowledge to initiate, progress, and complete projects
  • Provides management, mentorship, and oversight of a project team, including technical guidance to less experienced team members
  • Responsible for the management of numerous projects and support staff
  • Responsible for the management of project financial performance
  • Actively manages client budgets, schedules, and programs; project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments
  • Responsible for identifying services outside of scope
  • Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion to the client’s satisfaction
  • Creates agendas, leads meetings, and maintains meeting notes
  • Knowledgeably and inventively engages design issues including:
  • Concept development and site utilization
  • The critical relationship and reciprocity of interior and exterior spaces
  • Landscape aesthetics with special focus on materiality, tectonics, and the productive stylistic association with the architectural character
  • Site grading and drainage design and documentation
  • Planting design and plant material specifications
  • Pool/spa design
  • Decorative water feature design
  • Decorative landscape lighting design
  • Irrigation system diagramming and detailing
  • Stormwater management as it applies to various local codes and ordinances

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

We work in a collaborative, indoor office environment at the top of the historic Meadows Building at Energy Square. This is a great location with quick access to US-75 and the Lovers Lane DART Station practically on site.

Normal work hours are 8:30 AM – 5:30 AM Central Monday through Friday with one hour for lunch, but we are flexible if our business and customers’ needs remain priority #1. Occasionally, there may be a need to work outside of normal work hours or weekends to meet project deadlines. Some local travel is required. There may be an occasion that requires overnight travel.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role and requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, operate a keyboard, and communicate clearly and effectively on the phone, in-person, and via written communication.

Requirements:
  • Professionally accredited Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture degree required
  • Licensure preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, preferably in residential landscapes and associated plant materials and hardscape planning and detailing
  • Experienced AutoCAD user for construction detailing
  • A working knowledge of Land F/X preferred with an openness to learning new software required
  • A working knowledge of Revit preferred but not required
  • 2D and 3D landscape rendering skills using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Sketch-Up experience for 3D modeling preferred
  • Grading and drainage design and documentation experience
  • Proficient with technical detailing and drawing set development/standards/management
  • Strong sketch and visualization capabilities to quickly produce the graphic presentations, including layout of design concepts, masterplan proposals, materials palette boards, and client presentations using the Adobe Creative Suite
