Overview

A working crew member responsible for taking direction from a foreman, training and guiding Apprentices and Helpers, and assisting with the installation, demolition of mechanical system components, and material handling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe working practices throughout all activities.
• Assist with the installation of duct and piping systems.
• Train and direct Apprentices and Helpers on proper work practices.
• Load, unload, and move materials such as sheet metal, piping, boxes, carts, trash, and containers.
• Read and interpret project documents such as prints and specifications.
• Plan efficient methods for installing duct and piping systems.
• Participate in the Stretch and Flex program.
• Operate all necessary tools safely and effectively.
• Identify and report safety issues to the foreman.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
• Adherence to safety protocols.
• Extensive knowledge of construction hand tools.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program.
• Completion and passing of a journeymans test through local 421.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

• Ability to take direction and perform tasks with limited supervision.
• Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and varied schedules.
• Capacity to follow safety regulations and work in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 4 years of construction experience.
• Strong decision-making and excellent communication skills.
• OSHA 30 certification.

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in the mechanical industry or completion of a JATC apprenticeship program with leadership or foreman experience.
