Position Available: Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic

R-2 Contractors is currently seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our continued success with a company that values integrity and professionalism.

What you will do: 

· Perform a variety of skilled duties which may involve inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment

· Complete tasks given by Shop Manager in a timely fashion and ask for help as needed

· Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks (up to 1 1/2”)

· Responsible for cleaning and organizing the shop

· Must be able to operate heavy equipment

· Clean and organize work/shop/yard area as needed to maintain a safe working environment

· Complete all required documentation: timesheets, checklists, repair orders, etc…

· Assist with getting company vehicles to and from locations as needed

· Complete DOT inspections

· Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – grinding, cutting, sanding, welding, using compressed air etc.

· Loading and unloading trucks with use of forklift

Qualifications of the Heavy Equipment Shop and Truck Mechanic:

· Physical requirements: Lifting up to 100 pounds as needed, climbing, twisting, bending, standing for long periods of time

· Minimum 3 years heavy equipment/heavy truck experience

· Experience in safely using hand and power tools, equipment and diagnostic devices

· Forklift Certification or willingness to obtain certification

· Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record - preferred, or the ability to work with the company to obtain one.

· DOT medical card required and ability to maintain

· Mechanical Experience Required

50+ Hours Per Week

Weekends as needed
