The HSE Officer serves as the primary contact for safety, improvements, and security requirements for employees at Mikron Corporation Denver and Mikron Monroe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget Management: Forecast, manage, and maintain the Safety department's budget, track expenses, and oversee safety support vendor services. Negotiate rates and contracts as necessary.
- Policy Development: Develop and enforce policies to foster a culture of safety and security, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and US safety regulations.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and ensure adherence to legal standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Work independently and collaboratively to implement and maintain compliance with US safety regulations.
- Global Coordination: Coordinate and communicate safety regulations within Mikron globally and locally.
- Safety Planning: Develop and execute workplace safety plans in accordance with legal guidelines.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate and report work-related injuries and near misses.
- Management Reporting: Present safety issues and improvements to upper management.
- OSHA Coordination: Coordinate OSHA audits and safety training, including first-responder training.
- Employee Training: Conduct employee safety training and ergonomic assessments.
- Equipment Management: Order safety Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), first aid supplies, and machine caution/warning stickers.
- Facility Safety: Collaborate with the Facilities team to maintain building safety, including snow removal and alarm systems.
- Emergency Preparedness: Work with the Fire Department and other external services to set up fire drills, emergency action plans, and evacuation plans.
Additional Duties:
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about new safety laws and regulations and pursue continuing education to ensure legal compliance.
- Policy Implementation: Work with managers and executive management to develop and implement policies and procedures that align with current laws and US safety regulations.
- Reporting: Create reports to inform executive managers, employees, and external agencies about changes and compliance with applicable laws.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in daily team meetings and follow instructions from managers or supervisors related to project deadlines and costs.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain records for safety and workers' compensation, and act as the contact for workers' compensation issues.
- Safety Leadership: Lead the Mikron Denver Safety teams for employee and machine safety, develop safety policies and procedures, and communicate them to employees.
- OSHA Liaison: Serve as the point of contact with the OSHA Safety Consultant.
- Audit Management: Continuously audit HSE policies to ensure they meet current safety standards.
- Employee Onboarding: Coordinate the addition of new employees and manage OSHA 300 and 300A forms annually.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid state driver's license.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of safety experience, with relevant degrees and certifications substituting for some experience.
- Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, remain on call, and travel up to 20% (domestic and international).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Technical Skills: Thorough understanding of OSHA requirements and familiarity with regulations such as EN 60204-1, EN ISO 13849-1, U.L., NFPA 70E, and FDA CDRH Laser. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, peers, and management.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Initiative: Demonstrate initiative and positive behavior toward teamwork.
- Travel: Ability to obtain a US passport for international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification: OSHA 30 certification.
