Location & Work Arrangement

• City, State: Columbia, South Carolina
• Work Arrangement: Onsite
• Contract: This is a Contract position focused on data and software migration.
• Mode of Interview: 1 round, Phone.

Key Project Scope and Duties

Database Migration and Software Upgrade

• Core Project: Lead the conversion of the existing Oracle Spatial database to a SQL database environment.
• Software Transition: Work with the implementation of ESRI Roads and Highways on-premise , migrating from the legacy Geomedia environment.
• Research & Testing: Complete software/procedures research and testing related to the migration and new software implementation as assigned by the manager.

GIS Analysis and Data Quality

• Data Management: Perform GIS data collection, maintenance, and analysis . Update database tables to reflect changes to GIS features used in analysis and mapping.
• Quality Control: Perform quality control on new and existing data to maintain correctness and adherence to spatial accuracy standards .
• Mapping & Cartography: Produce high-quality digital and hard copy maps in advanced GIS/Mapping applications. Expertise in cartography is required (3+ years).

Documentation and Design

• Database Design: Apply experience with database design principles (1+ year) to the new SQL environment.
• Procedure Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of procedure manuals for the new system.

Required & Preferred Expertise

Minimum Experience

GIS/Mapping Software

3+ Years (Required)

Knowledge and experience working with GIS/Mapping software and applications.

Spatial Database

3+ Years (Required)

Experience working with a spatial database (e.g., Oracle Spatial).

Cartography

3+ Years (Required)

Experience with cartography (map making, design, and visualization).

Database Design

1+ Year (Required)

Experience with database design principles.

ESRI Products (Preferred)

N/A

Experience with ArcGIS Pro and the ArcGIS Roads and Highways Extension is highly preferred.

Database (Preferred)

N/A

Experience with a SQL database environment (essential for the migration).

Other Tools

N/A

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree (Preferred field of study includes Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or Physical Science).
