Job Title: Onsite Drywall / Commercial Carpenter Foreman
Job Summary:
The Onsite Drywall / Commercial Carpenter Foreman is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of drywall installation and commercial carpentry work on job sites. This role involves supervising skilled tradesmen, coordinating project tasks, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and meeting project deadlines. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with proven leadership abilities to drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Supervision & Team Leadership:
Direct and supervise onsite drywall installers and carpentry crews.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on project requirements and individual skills.
Mentor and train team members on best practices, proper tool usage, and quality workmanship.
Work Planning & Execution:
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to plan and sequence project tasks.
Coordinate daily work schedules to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
Oversee the setup and layout of job sites, ensuring materials and equipment are properly staged.
Quality Control & Safety Management:
Monitor work progress and quality to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Conduct regular inspections and enforce adherence to safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
Identify and address any issues or defects promptly to maintain high-quality finishes.
Material & Resource Management:
Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials and supplies.
Track inventory and usage of drywall, lumber, and other materials, recommending reorders when necessary.
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and in safe working order.
Communication & Coordination:
Serve as the primary on-site liaison between the crew, project managers, and other stakeholders.
Report progress, challenges, and project updates to management regularly.
Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors as needed to resolve issues and streamline operations.
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
Quickly identify and resolve on-site challenges, including material shortages, scheduling conflicts, or quality concerns.
Adapt plans and reallocate resources as needed to keep projects on track.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in carpentry/drywall installation is a plus.
5+ years of experience in commercial carpentry and/or drywall installation, with several years in a supervisory or foreman role.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes, and industry standards for drywall and carpentry.
Familiarity with hand and power tools used in drywall installation and carpentry.
Leadership & Communication:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to make quick, informed decisions and solve problems on-site.

Work Environment
Job Site Conditions:
Work is performed primarily on construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and heights.

Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
