Environmental, Health and Safety Officer Join Type One Energy to lead our health and safety initiatives for our advanced fusion power mission. The role is based in Knoxville, TN, and reports directly to the Director of Quality Assurance. Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management System. Oversee federal and state OSHA compliance and other EHS regulatory requirements across all operational sites. Establish and maintain hazard analysis, risk mitigation, PPE programs, incident reporting, and employee safety training. Conduct internal audits, scheduling periodic reviews, and documenting corrective actions to ensure ISO and regulatory compliance. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation. Develop and deliver health and safety training programs, coaching employees to foster a strong safety culture. Provide quarterly safety reports to the Board of Directors and monthly safety updates to senior management. Develop, maintain, and test emergency response plans and conduct regular drills across all operational sites. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in manufacturing, engineering, or high-risk environments. In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001, EHS regulations, and other relevant EHS standards. Strong analytical skills with experience in risk assessment, safety audits, and incident investigation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Certification in safety (e.g., CSP, ASP, OSHA 30) is highly desirable.
