GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Electronic Security Technician I- Performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) electronic physical security work. Work involves installing, uninstalling, operating, programming, diagnosing, resolving issues, and decommissioning all electronic security equipment. Work is performed statewide with multi-agency groups (i.e., TLC, TFC, Office of Gov, DIR and SPB). Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Electronic Security Technician II- Performs complex (journey-level) electronic physical security work. Work involves installing, uninstalling, operating, programming, diagnosing, resolving issues, and decommissioning all electronic security equipment. Work is performed statewide with multi-agency groups (i.e., TLC, TFC, Office of Gov, DIR and SPB). Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Electronic Security Technician III- Performs highly complex (senior-level) electronic physical security work. Work involves installing, uninstalling, operating, programming, diagnosing, resolving issues, and decommissioning all electronic security equipment. Work is performed statewide with multi-agency groups (i.e., TLC, TFC, Office of Governor, DIR, and SPB). May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Works under limited supervision, with considerate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Electronic Security Technician I-

1. Assists with projects from the design through install which includes the overall health of the project.
2. Reports on the progress, tracks spending, and documents all data associated with each project (e.g., Sever operating system, IP address, License, software patches, camera, etc.).
3. Installs, configures, maintains, and administers physical security servers which includes installing the video platform application, applying security vulnerability patches, and decommission servers after agency retention period is met.
4. Maintains and programs cameras, AI phone, access control equipment, and all associated security devices. This includes replacement, troubleshooting, upgrading hardware, and decommissioning equipment.
5. Defines and manages the roles and access levels of individual users requiring access to the video applications on the respective servers and access control system.
6. Monitors and tracks all physical security servers, access control components and camera equipment for end of life and report to management funding that is required to replace or upgrade equipment and licenses.
7. May assist with special investigation requests and internal audits for internal divisions and external agencies on the departments multi agency shared access control and video platforms.
8. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

8. Assists with special investigation requests and internal audits for internal divisions and external agencies on the departments multi agency shared access control and video platforms.
9. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Electronic Security Technician III-

1. Coordinates projects from the design through install which includes the overall health of the project.
2. Reports on the progress, tracks spending, and documents all data associated with each project (e.g., Sever operating system, IP address, License, software patches, camera, etc.).
3. Coordinates the maintenance and programming of cameras, AI phone, access control equipment, and all associated security devices. This includes replacement, troubleshooting, upgrading hardware, and decommissioning equipment.
4. Installs, configures, maintains, and administers physical security servers which includes installing the video platform application, applying security vulnerability patches, and decommission servers after agency retention period is met.
5. Defines and manages the roles and access levels of individual users requiring access to the video applications on the respective servers and access control system.
6. May conduct training for Electronic Security Technicians and end users on the access control system and video management software.
7. Monitors and tracks all physical security servers, access control components, and camera equipment for end of life and report to management funding that is required to replace or upgrade equipment and licenses.
8. Coordinates special investigation requests and internal audits for internal divisions and external agencies on the departments multi-agency shared access control and video platforms. Responsible for tracking and reporting on these investigations to management.
9. May conduct meetings in the absence of the Manager.
10. May establish objectives and standards for the team.
11. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School Diploma/equivalent required. Experience - Electronic Security Technician I Experience performing technical installation of security access control and video surveillance equipment preferred. Electronic Security Technician II Minimum of two (2) years' experience performing technical installation of security access control and video surveillance equipment. Electronic Security Technician III Minimum of four (4) years' experience performing technical installation of security access control and video surveillance equipment. Substitution Note: Additional work experience of the type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Licensure and/or Certification - Electronic Security Technician I and II Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. Electronic Security Technician III Must possess or be able to obtain LenelS2 certification. Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. Regulatory Knowledge - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures. Supervisory/Managerial/Leadership Skills - Electronic Security Technician III Knowledge of management/supervisory methods and principles, performance/productivity standards, and fiscal/budget management. Ability to develop plans, policies, and procedures for efficient workflow and overall effectiveness. Ability to provide clear direction to others, promote teamwork and motivate others to accomplish goals. Technology - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint, Fac Connect) and be able to learn new software/systems. Interpersonal Skills - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers. Safety - Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices. Schedule and/or Remote/Telecommuting work and/or Travel - Availability for after-hours, weekend work, holidays, overnight, and emergencies may be required. Telecommuting up to 2 days per week. Travel statewide as needed. State of Texas Benefits and Retirement Information: A DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change. A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary.
