Job Summary
The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing the costs associated with commercial roofing projects. This role involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for roofing services. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of roofing materials and techniques. You will work closely with potential clients, conduct thorough site surveys, analyze project blueprints and translate those details into comprehensive proposals.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Estimation:
a. Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop comprehensive estimates.
b. Conduct site visits to gather necessary information and assess project scope.
c. Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to understand project requirements
and constraints.
d. Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other relevant expenses.
e. Utilize estimating software and tools to compile accurate and competitive bids.
f. Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and best practices to ensure accurate and current estimates.
g. Maintain detailed records of all estimates, proposals, and bid documents.
h. Assist in negotiating contracts and subcontracts.
i. Provide support during the project execution phase, including cost tracking and variance analysis.
j. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment
on project expectations.
k. May assist with project management tasks such as change order proposals.
2. Client Relations:
a. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.
b. Conduct regular client meetings to gather feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
3. Collaboration & Communication:
a. Collaborate closely with other departments, including operations and finance, to ensure
alignment of initiatives with overall business goals.
