Your Responsibilities

  • Provide comfort and personal care needs to patients.
  • Deliver direct patient care as needed.
  • Accurately collect, interpret, and document patient care information.
  • Execute procedures as directed by the Medical Director.
  • Maintain quality control logs in CLIA waived lab areas.
  • Perform CLIA waived lab tests, including Accu-checks, Urine Beta HCG, and Dipstick UA.
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Collect blood, urine, stool, and sputum specimens.
  • Administer medications and immunizations according to clinic policy.
  • Document and bill for nursing charges accurately.
  • Provide essential clerical support, including lab requests preparation, appointment scheduling, and managing referrals.
  • Conduct telephone reminders for scheduled appointments.
  • Demonstrate competence in patient care responsibilities, tailored to diverse age-specific and developmental needs.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the University Health System, displaying exceptional customer service, courtesy, dignity, respect, and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required.

A Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited institution or certification from an approved credentialing body is mandatory.

Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

National certification as a registered Medical Assistant is preferred.

One year of experience in a clinic, doctor’s office, or ambulatory care setting is preferred.

If designated as a cash handler, successfully complete the Patient Services Cashier course and be designated during the initial probationary period.
