About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief of Staff to the President. The successful candidate will be a key partner to the President, providing strategic and administrative leadership. This role involves overseeing the President's office's core administrative functions, managing the office's budget, and leading high-level strategic initiatives. The Chief of Staff will also be responsible for the planning and execution of presidential events, including those involving the Board of Trustees, and will supervise the Foundation's Fellows program. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, with a graduate degree being a plus, and at least 10 years of experience in organizational administration, preferably within philanthropy, higher education, government, or a mid-size or larger nonprofit. They should have a proven track record of supporting an executive-level office, managing staff and budgets, and implementing special projects. Key competencies for the Chief of Staff include strategic leadership, the ability to work with diverse groups, and a strong commitment to the arts, humanities, and social justice. The role requires a candidate with excellent communication skills, political acumen, and the ability to maintain a high level of professional integrity. The Chief of Staff will be expected to be in the office three days a week and be available for travel and events as needed. The position demands a highly organized, action-oriented professional with exceptional emotional intelligence, who can work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The candidate should be adept at multitasking, have a practical problem-solving orientation, and be able to manage ambiguity while ensuring accountability.
