The Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) is responsible for strategic and operational nursing leadership in the development, deployment, re-engineering, optimization and integration of clinical information systems to support clinicians and patient care. The CNIO provides clinical leadership to advance Boston Medical Center’s utilization of clinical information systems consistent with the goals and objectives of Boston Medical Center’s clinical and strategic initiatives.
Position Summary The CNIO leads nursing in the design and execution of technology-enabled process change that maximizes patient safety, quality of care and operational efficiency. This individual assists with the identification, evaluation, and assessment of new care delivery technology, developing recommendations on the impact of integration with existing workflows and systems. As an experienced clinician and leader, the CNIO will be uniquely positioned to truly understand the value that a particular technology can bring to the advancement of nursing practice and quality of care at Boston Medical Center. Embraces the Magnet culture, facilities the efforts of the informatics team and council to support the ongoing work to maintain Magnet designation. Contributes to the development of the Magnet document highlighting informatics’ efforts and successes. Mentors the informatics team and council in their preparation for a site visit.
