Reporting directly to President, this cabinet-level leader is part of the University leadership team putting together a dynamic and synergistic strategic direction. This leader will have the opportunity to provide leadership, support, and intellectual tools that will help solidify and grow a unique and innovative set of initiatives. Reporting to this position are the Director of Administrative Services & Development, Director of K-12 Data Center, Director of Technical Operations, Director of Support Services, and Manager of Multimedia Services. The

is responsible to lead, direct, and manage campus data communications, academic technology, administrative systems, financial technology, training, user support, and IT security systems; serve as an institutional expert on the impact of emerging trends in the information technology field and uses in higher education; define and set policies and standards, used by the entire organization, regarding computing services and use of information technology; oversee the design and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software; manage information technology needs across the entire organization while maintaining alignment with the organizational mission of being a technology leader; provide tactical and strategic planning for the ongoing management of cyber security platforms; assess hardware, software, and services being considered for development, purchase, or implementation for security strengths/risks and information security features; work as leader in areas of risk management, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity planning for information technology services.
Position Description:
Key duties of the

CISO
at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. include providing institution-wide leadership and direction in the management and operation of shared information services across the University; leads, guides, and oversees the institutional information technology budgeting process providing leadership in cost and productivity analysis; works with the University Chief Technology Officer (
CTO
) in determining the priorities, projects, and future directions of the University’s IT functions; responsible for leading and directing the IT workforce of the University.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Key characteristics include:
Strong organizational skills while managing the University’s IT systems and functions, creating, and delivering strategies and policies.
Strong leadership skills working with complex budgets, organizational development, personnel, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
Recruiting staff requiring they work proactively to source and nurture the best employees possible.
Collaboration and relationship building within the division and with diverse campus and community partners.
Ability to articulate IT vision for a progressive IT organization.
The successful candidate for
CIO
CISO
will be able to demonstrate these minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Network & Security Administration, or closely related discipline from a regionally-accredited U.S. University or equivalent international institution; ten years of experience in Information Technology, including the supervision of an IT department; proven information technology leader with a broad range of technology experience and demonstrated experience working with all levels of personnel and executives.

Applied Research Lab, an initiative to double the cyber graduates from The Beacom College (from around 200 per year to 400 per year), expand

ARL
Management and Security, expand Merit-based Student Scholarships in cyber education, and launch the Governor’s Cyber Academy (a statewide K-12 cyber education program).
A related supportive function established on campus is the new Paulson Cyber Incubator and Entrepreneurial Center. The Paulson Center provides a rich array of services including, but not limited to, seed funding for faculty and student ideas, entrepreneurial programming and support, student entrepreneurial support (the
CEO
Club), space for the development of intellectual property, and mentor support for budding entrepreneurs.
Separate but related to

RISING
(Phase 2) is a strategic alliance with Sanford Health, one of the largest health systems in the United States. The alliance includes programs in talent acquisition, development and retention (workforce development), collaborative research including creation of a state-of-the-art health care technology and cybersecurity operations center as a model for health care nationwide, health data research to uncover new patterns of clinical significance, including the use of artificial intelligence, predictive analysis and machine learning to advance the pace of health care innovations, a Cyber Solutions Accelerator Lab, only the third in the nation, designed as a destination for testing and proving technology capabilities to solve real-world problems. The alliance will allow for incubation and support of early startup and technology innovation companies with the goal of improving health care delivery across the spectrum.

is part of the universities senior leadership team who represent and lead all aspects of the University. Under the leadership of the president and together with other cabinet members, the

will help shape the strategic direction of the University.
