Location: Grand Rapids, MI This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates. Job Description Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. System Engineers execute a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for System Engineering tasks within the Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) team. IVHM creates solutions that perform health management for the aircraft. Core Responsibilities: Design and Development : Taking a lead role in architecting, designing, and developing systems IVHM products, ensuring adherence to GE's stringent processes and the DO-178C standard, which is crucial for aviation software safety and certification. Continuous Integration and Testing : Overseeing continuous software integration and testing processes to ensure software quality and reliability. Verification: Taking a lead role in validating and verifying the design and implementation of the system. Problem-Solving : Identifying design failures and implementing effective solutions, thereby ensuring the robustness of IVHM solutions. Mentorship : Acting as a mentor and resource for less experienced team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. Required Qualifications: Educational Background : This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience). Professional Experience : At least 3 years of experience in an engineering field, with a minimum of 2 years working specifically in a System Engineering role. Desired Characteristics: Leadership and Communication : Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication abilities, are essential for this role. The ability to lead both global and virtual teams is particularly valued. Specialized Experience : Experience with DO-178C D is highly desirable, indicating a deeper understanding of the stringent requirements for software that operates at a high level of safety criticality.
