Tom Freeland, born and raised in Fowler, Indiana, opened his Chevrolet dealership in the 1930's. Shortly after, Tom's cousin, Bean Freeland, launched his initial Studebaker and Case Tractor dealerships, also in Fowler, Indiana. What these cousins didn't realize was that they were laying the foundation for four generations of Freeland family members in the auto industry. Today, Nick Rice, part of the Freeland Family, owns AutoMasters in Nashville, Chris Freeland owns Harbor Nissan in Port Charlotte, Florida, and Ben Freeland owns multiple new car franchises in Nashville. Auto sales are a Freeland tradition passed down more reliably than the family Land Cruiser. The owner, Ben Freeland, is passionate about developing his employees and promoting from within. We are seeking to add an experienced Automotive Controller to our exceptional accounting team. This is a vital position responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of two dealerships. Competitive salary Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance Life Insurance Long-Term & Short-Term disability 401K Paid vacation RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer's format and time frame. Interprets the financial statements regularly and informs executive leadership of developing trends. Works with CFO to develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard the company assets. Conducts periodic audits to ensure compliance. Maintains an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash Reviews the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable. Strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership. Supervise and lead the accounting team and ensure all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures. Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Other responsibilities as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience automotive franchise dealership operations Strong understanding of dealership financials and performing month-end close processes Proficient in Microsoft Excel Dealertrack DMS experience is preferred Strong communication and leadership skills Must pass a background check, drug screen and have a valid drivers license EEOC Statement: Freeland Auto is committed to equal employment opportunity.
