General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Marion Segment Director. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  1. Directs a business area within a division consisting of multiple disciplines, programs, products, and/or customers to meet current and long-term business objectives.
  2. Responsible for customer satisfaction, leadership, overall performance, schedule, and profit and loss of large programs, or a portfolio of programs and/or products throughout the entire program life cycle.
  3. Ensures creation of well-constructed, comprehensive business plans.
  4. Establishes strategic plans and objectives in coordination with others.
  5. Evaluates and analyzes the functional area plans (such as IRAD) and the impacts of these plans on the business.
  6. Reviews organizational capabilities, and development/execution of strategies, to improve the competitiveness of the organization through actions such as professional growth & development, strategic hiring, strategic partnering, and acquisitions.
  7. Identifies market/scope changes and develops product/program positions for costs/price and feature changes or equitable cost/schedule adjustments.
  8. Develops corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation.
  9. Balances programs, risks, and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical requirements and budgets.
  10. Conducts reviews to drill down into issues on products/programs, identify issues, develop corrective actions, and communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions to program teams.
  11. Sets standards for metric reviews for a business area.
  12. Develops personnel to ensure efficient operation.
  13. Conducts business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representatives.
  14. Effectively engages in complex negotiations involving extremely critical matters.
  15. Develops customer relationships and develops new business within the market/program.
  16. Leads the patent and data rights for the products/programs/proposals/subcontracts.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Tremendous knowledge of products and technologies including current and potential applications.
  2. Tremendous knowledge of target customer markets.
  3. Skilled in the development and implementation of product/program strategy and tactics.
  4. Demonstrated leadership of a program with significant delivery or technical risk.
  5. Ability to develop and implement a product-oriented WBS and WBS Dictionary.
  6. Ability to generate cohesive program plans.
  7. Ability to track work accomplished to baseline plans and identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends.
  8. Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives.
  9. Expert risk and opportunity management skills and ability to apply them to programs.
  10. Tremendous ability to understand and analyze program financial data.
  11. Tremendous knowledge of government contracting practices and regulations regarding acquisition.
  12. Outstanding relationship management and marketing skills.
  13. Recognized as an influential leader.
  14. Ability to identify partnership candidates best suited to fill product gaps.
  15. Ability to manage managers of teams in matrix organization to achieve schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives.
  16. Ability to lead others in team building, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership, and advanced skills.
  17. Ability to evaluate quality of work product to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements.
  18. Ability to develop and execute company policies that affect immediate operations.
  19. Tremendous verbal and written communication skills.
  20. Tremendous understanding of business and supply chain strategy.
  21. Ability to develop and execute proposal plans and strategies.
  22. Ability to apply advanced negotiation skills to solve internal, external, and customer issues.
  23. Erroneous decisions will have a long-term effect on the company’s success.
  24. Will interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels.
  25. Knowledge of MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  26. May be required to travel.
  27. May be responsible for hire/fire decisions.
